Are you a compassionate, proactive, and student-focused professional looking to make a real difference in young people's lives? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated School Counsellor to join a welcoming secondary school in the Wellingborough area.

Position Details

  • Role: School Counsellor

  • Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

  • Contract: Full-time (part-time considered)

  • Start Date: ASAP or from the next term

  • Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

You'll provide emotional, social, and mental-health support to students who may be facing personal, academic, or family-related challenges. Working closely with pastoral leaders and safeguarding teams, you will help ensure students feel supported, heard, and equipped to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one counselling sessions to students

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with safeguarding procedures

  • Advise teaching and support staff on student wellbeing needs

  • Contribute to whole-school wellbeing initiatives

  • Liaise with external agencies when appropriate

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified counsellor (Level 4 or above)

  • Experienced working with children or young people

  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child protection

  • Empathetic, patient, and able to build trust

  • A strong communicator with excellent organisational skills

BACP/UKCP registration is highly desirable.
