Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Northampton that is seeking an Unqualified English Teacher to join their English department from January 2026. This role would suit someone with previous school-based experience as well as those earlier in their education career, all supported by an experienced and welcoming department.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, supported by schemes of work and departmental resources

  • Supporting students with reading, writing, and comprehension, including targeted literacy interventions

  • Leading small-group sessions and providing one-to-one support where needed

  • Maintaining a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

  • Contributing to English enrichment activities such as reading clubs, creative writing, or debate groups

This Role Would Suit:

  • Graduates in English or a related subject, as well as candidates with previous classroom or tutoring experience

  • Cover supervisors, instructors, tutors, or teaching assistants ready to take on more responsibility

  • Individuals with strong subject knowledge and confident communication skills

  • Those considering teacher training routes such as PGCE, School Direct, or SCITT, or experienced educators seeking a long-term role

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students is beneficial, but not essential
