Job Description

Residential Support Worker - School Inclusion

Location: Blackpool (Central, North Shore & Bispham)

Contract: Full-time, Term-time only

Hours: 08:30 - 15:30 (No nights, no sleep-ins, no weekends!)

The Role: Bring Your Care Experience to the Classroom

Are you currently working as a Residential Support Worker (Children's Homes) but finding the shift patterns, sleep-ins, and weekend rotas are taking their toll?

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for experienced RSWs to transition into Secondary Schools across Blackpool.

In a residential setting, you provide the stability and care that vulnerable children need. In a school setting, that role is exactly the same you are the "anchor" for students who have complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will work within the school's Inclusion or Pastoral department to ensure that "looked after" children and those with EHCPs have the support they need to succeed.

Why Your RSW Skills are High-Value

Blackpool schools value the "holistic" approach that Residential Support Workers bring. Your experience is a perfect match for:

  • You know how to build trust with children who have attachment issues or past trauma.

  • You are experienced in managing challenging behaviour and using therapeutic approaches to calm high-stress situations.

  • You have a deep understanding of safeguarding protocols and "Looked After Children" (LAC) requirements.

  • You are "unshockable" and understand that behaviour is always a form of communication.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Inclusion Support: Working in the school's hub to support students who cannot access mainstream lessons.

  • 1:1 Mentoring: Providing emotional support and guidance to students with complex home lives.

  • Crisis Intervention: Supporting the behaviour team when a student is in distress or disengaged.

  • Liaising with Professionals: Using your experience to contribute to PEPs (Personal Education Plans) and EHCP reviews.

The "School Life" Benefit

  • Consistent Hours: 08:30 - 15:30, Monday to Friday. You get your evenings and weekends back.

  • 13 Weeks Holiday: Enjoy every half-term, Christmas, Easter, and Summer off (unpaid, but provides incredible life balance).

  • Professional Transition: We provide free Team-Teach training to bridge the gap between residential care and educational settings.

  • Weekly Pay: Competitive rates paid every Friday.

What We Need From You

  • Experience: At least 6-12 months of experience working in a Residential Children's Home or similar setting.

  • The Heart: A genuine passion for supporting the most vulnerable young people in Blackpool.

  • Reliability: Schools need a consistent, familiar face for these students to thrive.

  • DBS: A willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (Tradewind can help you apply).
