Are you an A-level English specialist looking for a rewarding, part-time supply role in a vibrant college setting?

We are working with an oversubscribed Catholic sixth-form college in central Manchester to recruit a Teacher of A-level English from January 2026 onwards. This is an excellent opportunity to teach motivated students in a high-performing, well-resourced environment with a strong academic culture.

The Role

  • Teacher of A-level English (Year 12)
  • Part-time: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00am - 4:00pm
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging A-level lessons in English
  • Inspire students with strong academic aspirations, many of whom progress to English and related degree programmes
  • Work within a supportive department that values innovation, subject expertise, and excellent teaching

This role would suit experienced A-level teachers, as well as confident ECTs or FE-qualified teachers with proven experience delivering A-level English.

To Be Successful, You Will Need

  • A recognised UK teaching qualification (PGCE, PCET, QTS or QTLS)
    Please note: overseas qualifications not equivalent to QTS or QTLS are not accepted
  • Experience teaching A-level English
  • An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one), professional references, and overseas police checks where applicable
  • A full CV with complete education and employment history (any gaps explained)
  • The legal right to work in the UK with no restrictions
