Job Description

Male Teaching Assistant - SEN School (Corby)

Via Tradewind Recruitment

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working with a specialist SEN school in Corby, seeking a Male Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex physical and communication needs. This role focuses on supporting children with severe autism, limited or non-verbal communication, cerebral palsy, and mobility challenges, including full-time wheelchair users.

The school caters to pupils who require a high level of structure, routine, and personalised support to thrive both academically and emotionally. Many students experience sensory processing difficulties and rely on consistent adult support to navigate the school day safely and successfully.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils access education, therapy sessions, and social interaction. Responsibilities include 1:1 support, assisting with movement and positioning, supporting communication development, and helping manage emotional regulation and behaviour. You may also assist with feeding, toileting, and personal care, ensuring pupils are supported with dignity and respect at all times.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, following guidance from teachers, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists. Training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates with a caring nature and a genuine interest in SEN education.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience or a strong interest in autism and physical disabilities

  • Is confident supporting pupils with limited speech and alternative communication methods

  • Can remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations

  • Is physically fit and comfortable assisting with mobility support

  • Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive education

In return, Tradewind Recruitment offers competitive pay, ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
