Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

We are working with a specialist SEMH secondary school in the Corby area to recruit a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

The Role:

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored emotional and behavioural support to pupils with SEMH needs

  • Support students in managing anxiety, trauma and emotional regulation

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals

  • Support learning both in and out of the classroom

  • Build positive, trusting relationships to promote engagement and progress

  • Help implement behaviour support plans and individual strategies

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, mental health or behavioural needs

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to remain consistent and professional in challenging situations

  • Relevant qualifications or training in mental health, psychology, youth work or education are desirable but not essential
