Teaching Assistant - Mental Health Specialist

We are recruiting a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEMH secondary provision in the Corby area, supporting pupils who require consistent emotional and behavioural support to succeed both academically and personally.

The Role:

In this role, you will:

  • Support students with emotional regulation, mental health and behavioural challenges

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support

  • Assist pupils in accessing learning within a structured and supportive environment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies

  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and personal development

  • Help deliver individual support and behaviour plans

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with young people with SEMH or mental health needs

  • A resilient, empathetic and patient approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner

  • Backgrounds in youth work, psychology, mental health or education are advantageous but not essential
