SEND Teaching Assistant - Kettering

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a specialist school in Kettering to recruit a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This specialist setting supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • ASD - Autistic Spectrum Disorder

  • PD - Physical Disabilities

  • MLD - Moderate Learning Difficulties

  • SLD - Severe Learning Difficulties

The school provides a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment tailored to meet individual education and care plans. Staff work closely together to ensure pupils receive consistent academic, emotional, and physical support throughout the school day.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to assist pupils both in the classroom and during practical activities. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with learning activities on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assisting with communication and engagement strategies

  • Helping implement individual support plans

  • Supporting behaviour management in line with school policies

  • Preparing classroom resources and adapting materials where required

This role includes personal care responsibilities, which may involve assisting pupils with toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility needs. You will also be required to support pupils during swimming lessons, including assisting with changing and ensuring safe participation in line with safeguarding and health & safety procedures.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (preferred but not essential)

  • Be patient, reliable, and able to follow structured routines

  • Be comfortable supporting personal care needs

  • Be confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Have a genuine interest in supporting pupils with complex needs
