The Role: Specialist Support in Blackpool
Are you a resilient and empathetic Teaching Assistant looking for a stable, long-term career move? Our leading Blackpool Special School is seeking a dedicated SEND/SEMH Specialist to join our team.
This is a Temp to Perm position. You will start via a trial period, allowing you to ensure the school is the right fit for you before transitioning onto a permanent school contract. You will be working with pupils who have complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), and specific Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
Key Responsibilities
Special School Support: Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support in a specialized, nurturing environment.
SEMH & Autism Support: Use trauma-informed strategies to support pupils with complex emotional regulation needs.
EHCP Implementation: Work alongside the SENCO to deliver specific interventions and track progress against individual goals.
Positive Behaviour Management: Maintain a safe and productive learning environment using specialized de-escalation techniques.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from Qualified (Level 2/3) and Unqualified candidates with the right "Blackpool grit" and a heart for Special Education.
Experience: Previous work in a Special School, PRU, Youth Club, or Residential Care is highly valued.
Specialism: A passion for SEND and an understanding of SEMH triggers and sensory needs.
Reliability: As this is a Temp to Perm role, we are looking for someone committed to becoming a permanent member of our school family.
Skills: Team-Teach or similar de-escalation training is a major bonus (but training can be provided).
