Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (FY1 - FY4) Salary: £102.83 - £111.83 per day (Weekly Pay) Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Start Date: ASAP
The Role: Pastoral Excellence in Blackpool
Are you a natural mentor with a passion for student wellbeing? Our vibrant Blackpool Secondary School is seeking a Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated inclusion team.
This is a Pastoral Road role, meaning you will be on the frontline of student support, managing behaviour, and fostering emotional resilience. This is a Temp to Perm position providing you with a "trial period" to integrate into the school family before transitioning onto a permanent contract. You will primarily support students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs and those with SEND or an EHCP.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral Support: Act as a key worker for specific students, providing a "safe space" and helping them navigate the challenges of the secondary school day.
Behaviour Mentoring: Use your skills to de-escalate tension and implement positive behaviour strategies within the Blackpool secondary setting.
SEMH & SEND Focus: Deliver 1:1 interventions for pupils with complex emotional needs, Autism (ASD), or ADHD.
Attendance & Wellbeing: Work closely with the Pastoral Lead and SENCO to monitor student engagement and track progress against EHCP targets.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from Qualified (Level 2/3) practitioners and Unqualified candidates with strong youth work or care backgrounds.
Experience: Previous work as a Pastoral Support Worker, Youth Worker, or TA in a secondary/AP setting is highly valued.
Character: You need "Blackpool grit" resilience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Specialism: An understanding of SEMH triggers and trauma-informed practice.
Reliability: As a Temp to Perm role, we are looking for someone ready to commit to a long-term career in our school.
