Job Description
A large and diverse secondary school in Hackney is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support students with SEN, SEMH, and additional behavioural needs. This is a rewarding but demanding role, ideal for someone resilient, reflective, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.
You'll be working closely with a small group of students who need consistent structure, reassurance, and positive role modelling throughout the school day.
Your role will involve:
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group support in lessons
- Helping students manage behaviour and emotions positively
- Supporting students during transitions and unstructured times
- Working closely with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and teachers
- Recording progress and feeding back to the wider team
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience in SEN, youth work, care, or behaviour support
- Is calm under pressure and confident setting boundaries
- Understands that progress can be academic, emotional, or social
- Wants a role with genuine impact
