Job Description
KS2 Teacher (Year 5 - open to ECTs!)
- Contract: Maternity Cover
- Start date: 4th May 2026
- End date: 17th December 2026
- Location: South Croydon
A reputable, one-form-entry primary school in South Croydon, situated in a lovely sub-urban town on the border of Surrey, is seeking an experienced Year 5 Teacher to support them with a long-term, temporary contract.
This is one of Tradewind's partnership schools seeking a KS2 Teacher (Year 5) on a full-time basis from 4th May 2026. This would be a maternity cover, whereby you would step in continuously until 17th July 2026, with the benefit of securing a role continuing from September, for the entirety of the Autumn Term full-time to December.
At present, we have a Teacher completing this contract for us currently and is going on maternity herself! Feedback is consistently positive for this school, with this Teacher noting how great the senior leadership support is and behaviour is fantastic.
The school has on-site parking or plenty of local on-street free parking. If you use public transport, they are a short bus or walk from Purely train station.
The Headteacher is one of the most understanding I have worked with - despite doing a full teaching contract, she does not expect you to stay once the children have all left site and she gives 1 full day fortnightly off-timetable to dedicate to planning (paid as normal).
This is a classroom teaching role for a Teacher who prefers to teach KS2, offered on your pay scale in line with experience via PAYE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full teaching responsibility for a Key Stage 2 class (Year 5)
- Maintain a positive learning environment and ensure pupils' health, safety and wellbeing
- Prepare pupils for end-of-KS2 expectations
- Assess, record and report on pupils' progress, development, attainment, and personal and social needs
Why Work with Tradewind:
- Competitive pay rates and access to top education talent
- Extensive training and professional development opportunities - 25 fully certified CPD courses
- Referral scheme - recommend a friend and earn up to £100
- Comprehensive interview preparation and ongoing support, including lesson planning assistance
- Online portal to manage timesheets and availability
- Free social and networking events
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Enhanced DBS Disclosure, overseas police clearance (if applicable), and professional references
- CV covering the last 10 years of employment, with explanations for any gaps
- Legal right to work in the UK
Please submit your updated CV for consideration ASAP!
