Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

Are you a Maths specialist with a passion for helping students rediscover their confidence in learning? Do you want to work in a setting where every small step forward makes a real difference?

We are supporting a specialist Alternative Provision in Wellingborough that is looking to appoint a committed Maths Tutor on a full-time, permanent basis from April 2026.

This setting works with students aged 11-16 who have been excluded from mainstream schools. Many arrive with gaps in their education, low confidence, and additional needs. Through small class sizes and a supportive, structured environment, the provision helps students re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

As a Maths Tutor, you will play a vital role in developing students' numeracy skills while encouraging confidence, resilience, and a more positive attitude towards education.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Delivering Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4, tailored to individual needs
  • Simplifying complex concepts into clear, manageable steps
  • Supporting students in rebuilding confidence in their mathematical ability
  • Preparing learners for assessments and appropriate qualifications
  • Tracking progress and delivering targeted interventions
  • Establishing clear routines and maintaining positive behaviour expectations
  • Working closely with pastoral staff to support overall student development

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience teaching or tutoring Maths (QTS/QTLS desirable but not essential)
  • Can make Maths engaging, accessible, and relevant to everyday life
  • Is patient, consistent, and calm in their approach
  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Understands the needs of students with SEMH or additional challenges
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with students
  • Is committed to making a genuine impact in alternative education

What the Role Offers:

  • A permanent, full-time role within a specialist Alternative Provision
  • Small class sizes and a personalised approach to learning
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team
  • Ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities
  • A leadership team that values staff wellbeing
  • The chance to make a lasting difference in students' lives

In this role, Maths is more than just a subject - it's a tool for building confidence, independence, and future opportunities. You'll help students develop skills that support progression into further education, training, and employment.
