Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Officer to work in a secondary school in the Wellingborough area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience in pastoral care, student support, or safeguarding who is passionate about supporting young people.

The Role

As a Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students' wellbeing, attendance, and safeguarding within a busy secondary school. You will work closely with the pastoral team, safeguarding leads, and senior staff to ensure students are safe, supported, and able to engage fully in school life.

Responsibilities

  • Providing welfare and pastoral support to students

  • Supporting attendance and punctuality monitoring

  • Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies

  • Assisting with safeguarding and wellbeing concerns

  • Supporting behaviour management and student interventions

  • Maintaining accurate records and reports

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school setting

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
