Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work in schools across the Corby area.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with experience or interest in mental health, psychology, or pastoral care, who are keen to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.

About the Role:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, or other emotional needs. You will play a key role in supporting their wellbeing, engagement, and progress within the classroom.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with mental health needs

  • Help students regulate emotions and develop coping strategies

  • Support behaviour management in line with school policies

  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students

  • Encourage engagement in lessons and school life

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people or in a mental health-related role (e.g. youth work, care, support work)

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting mental health and wellbeing

  • A relevant degree (e.g. Psychology) is desirable but not essential

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
