Job Description
Flexible Working | Immediate Starts | Competitive Daily Rates
Are you looking for a rewarding role in education that offers variety, flexibility, and the chance to make a real impact? We are urgently seeking Cover Supervisors to support a range of secondary schools across Blackpool and the surrounding areas.
Whether you are an experienced educator, a recent graduate looking for classroom experience, or a professional seeking a career change into teaching, this is the perfect opportunity to work on your own terms.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will lead classrooms in the absence of the regular teacher. Your primary focus is not on "teaching" the subject matter, but on managing the learning environment and ensuring students remain on task with the work provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive and focused learning environment.
Supervision: Delivering pre-set lesson plans and ensuring pupils complete their work.
Support: Dealing with any immediate queries from students and managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
Reporting: Providing feedback to the department regarding student progress and any issues encountered during the day.
Why Choose Cover Work in Blackpool?
Flexibility: Choose the days you want to work ideal for balancing other commitments.
Variety: Work across different departments and schools, gaining a broad range of experience.
No Planning/Marking: All work is set for you; you simply lead the room and leave at the end of the school day.
Local Impact: Support the education of young people within the Blackpool community.
Requirements
Confidence: The ability to stand in front of a class of 30 teenagers and command respect.
Resilience: A calm, adaptable, and professional approach to different school environments.
DBS: Must hold an Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or be willing to apply for one immediately.
Education: Degree-level education is preferred, but we welcome applications from those with significant experience working with 11-16 year-olds (e.g., coaching, youth work, or military backgrounds).
Pay & Benefits
Daily Rate: Competitive rates of pay, paid weekly.
Training: Ongoing support and advice on classroom management techniques.
Pension: Access to a pension scheme.
Potential for Long-Term: Many cover roles lead to permanent positions or "Temp-to-Perm" opportunities.
