1:1 Teaching Assistant - Secondary School
Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: Competitive daily rate (£90-£100 per day, dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in the Kettering area.

This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to a student with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within a mainstream secondary school environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide individualised support to a named student throughout the school day.

  • Assist with academic learning, engagement, and classroom participation.

  • Implement strategies outlined in the student's support plan and EHCP (where applicable).

  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development.

  • Support the student's emotional wellbeing and inclusion within the wider school community.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting.

  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

  • Have an understanding of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.

  • Be able to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model.

  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
