Are you an organised and practical individual with a passion for Science and education? Do you enjoy supporting hands-on learning and ensuring practical lessons run smoothly behind the scenes?
We are working in partnership with a forward-thinking and supportive secondary school in Corby that is seeking to appoint a Science Technician from September 2026. The school is ideally looking for a permanent appointment, although fixed-term and long-term supply arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Science department and play a key role in supporting both staff and students across a range of engaging practical lessons.
About the Role
As a Science Technician, you will support the delivery of practical Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, helping to create a safe and effective learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing equipment, materials, and resources for practical experiments
- Setting up and clearing away laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintaining laboratory stock, resources, and chemical inventories
- Ensuring laboratories remain clean, organised, and fully equipped
- Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations and investigations
- Carrying out routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment
- Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
- Ordering and monitoring laboratory supplies when required
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working in a laboratory, scientific, or educational environment
- Has strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Is confident working with scientific equipment and materials
- Has a good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures
- Is proactive, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Is enthusiastic about supporting Science education and student success
Previous experience as a Science Technician is desirable but not essential. Candidates with Science qualifications, laboratory experience, or relevant transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
