Science Instructor - Northampton

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent Preferred | Long-Term Supply or Fixed-Term Considered
Pay Rate: £120-£190 per day (based on experience and responsibilities)

We are working in partnership with a supportive secondary school in Northampton that is seeking a Science Instructor to join their team from September 2026. The school is ideally looking for a permanent appointment, although long-term supply or fixed-term arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with an experienced Science department, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a well-structured and well-resourced school environment.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Delivering engaging and structured Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Supporting the planning and adaptation of lessons to meet different learning needs
  • Explaining scientific concepts in a clear, engaging, and accessible way
  • Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school expectations
  • Supporting students during practical experiments and independent learning tasks
  • Tracking student progress and providing feedback where appropriate
  • Contributing to departmental meetings, CPD, and wider school activities

Who We're Looking For:

  • A Science-related degree (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science, or similar)
  • Experience working with young people in education, tutoring, coaching, or youth settings
  • Confident individuals able to lead a classroom and engage learners effectively
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, adaptable approach
  • Enthusiastic team players with a genuine interest in education
  • Individuals considering teacher training routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or QTS apprenticeships
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
