Student Support Officer - Make a Difference Every Day

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Officer to join a welcoming secondary school in Corby. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people by providing pastoral, behavioural, and emotional support, helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, attendance, wellbeing, and engagement across the school. Working closely with students, families, teaching staff, and external agencies, you will help create a supportive environment where every student can thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group pastoral support to students

  • Supporting students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs

  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and student welfare

  • Building positive relationships with students and their families

  • Working alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams to support vulnerable learners

  • Assisting with behaviour management strategies and intervention programmes

  • Supporting students during unstructured times such as break and lunchtime

  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to student support plans

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or support setting

  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Can build rapport quickly and establish positive professional relationships

  • Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and a proactive approach

  • Has strong organisational and record-keeping skills

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Experience in education, youth support, social care, pastoral care, or behaviour support would be highly advantageous.
