School Administrator - Alternative Provision

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an experienced and resilient School Administrator to join a welcoming Alternative Provision setting in Northampton from September.

This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is not only highly organised and experienced in school administration but is also comfortable supporting students within the classroom when required. As a smaller educational setting, all staff play an important role in supporting students' learning, wellbeing, and engagement throughout the school day.

The provision caters for secondary-aged students who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education and can present with challenging behaviour. Therefore, applicants must have previous experience working with young people and be confident building positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive administrative support to the school leadership team and wider staff.
  • Managing attendance records, student data, correspondence, and general office duties.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and external agencies.
  • Supporting with admissions, pupil records, and safeguarding documentation.
  • Assisting staff with classroom support and student supervision when required.
  • Building positive relationships with students and helping to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the provision.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working in a school administration role.
  • Experience supporting children or young people, particularly those with additional needs or behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and IT skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidence working with secondary-aged students who may display challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting both administrative and classroom-based responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and school systems is desirable.
