The Role
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality classroom support across a range of subjects. You will help students overcome barriers to learning, encourage engagement, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Work with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce learning.
- Provide additional support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required.
- Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a productive classroom environment.
- Assist with preparing learning resources and classroom activities.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Encourage student confidence, independence, and participation.
- Support students pastorally, helping to promote their wellbeing and engagement in school life.
- Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety policies at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them succeed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
- Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
