Are you a compassionate, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with additional needs?

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive SEN school in Milton Keynes that is seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

The school caters for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) whose primary areas of need include Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Every student receives personalised support, with learning tailored to their individual strengths, interests and goals.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students access education, build confidence and develop the social, emotional and communication skills they need to thrive. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you'll help create a positive, structured and nurturing environment where every pupil feels valued, understood and encouraged to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
  • Assisting with classroom learning by adapting activities to meet individual needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, patience and relationship-building.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and helping them develop resilience and confidence.
  • Using visual aids, communication strategies and structured routines to support students with speech and language needs.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to implement EHCP targets.
  • Promoting independence, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, ADHD or Speech and Language needs (school-based experience is desirable but not essential).
  • A calm, resilient and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, residential care, social care, mental health services or another child-focused environment, we'd love to hear from you.
