We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Brackley from September 2026 on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of young people by providing pastoral care, guidance, and encouragement throughout their school journey.

Role Overview:

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and teaching colleagues to remove barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes. You will provide targeted support for students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges, helping them engage positively with school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support to students requiring additional guidance

  • Support students with emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development

  • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent source of support

  • Assist with behaviour interventions, restorative conversations, and reintegration into lessons

  • Monitor student progress through daily check-ins, reports, and targeted interventions

  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding, SEND, and pastoral teams to ensure students receive appropriate support

  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies where required

  • Support the school's behaviour and attendance policies while promoting a positive and inclusive culture

  • Supervise reflection or inclusion areas where necessary

  • Contribute to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or community setting (desirable but not essential)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Confident managing challenging situations with professionalism and consistency

  • Passionate about supporting the wellbeing and development of young people

  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education (training can be provided)

  • A proactive team player with a positive attitude and resilience
