Maths Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision School

Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client school, an Alternative Provision located in Bromley-by-Bow, for a dedicated Maths Teaching Assistant to start on 1st September.

Working with pupils aged 11-18, you will support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to develop confidence in mathematics through one-to-one intervention, small group work and classroom support.

The school provides a nurturing and structured learning environment where every member of staff plays a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Deliver targeted intervention sessions to improve numeracy.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups.
  • Encourage participation and build confidence in mathematics.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs throughout lessons.
  • Help implement behaviour support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH is essential.
  • Good understanding of GCSE-level Maths.
  • Experience working in Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN or secondary education is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve academically.
