SANZA Teaching Agency is delighted to be working in partnership with a large, welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Brent, who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and confident Phonics Intervention Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring teacher, experienced Teaching Assistant or graduate with a genuine passion for early literacy and helping children develop the fundamental skills they need to become confident, independent readers.
The school is particularly interested in candidates who have experience delivering Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics, although applications from individuals with strong phonics knowledge and experience delivering other systematic synthetic phonics programmes are also encouraged.
The successful candidate will work with small groups of pupils who require additional support with phonics, reading, blending and early literacy skills, helping to close learning gaps and build confidence.
For anyone considering a career in teaching, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience, develop intervention skills and work alongside experienced teachers before progressing into teacher training.

As a Phonics Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils who require additional help to develop their reading and phonics skills.
Working closely with class teachers, the school's phonics lead and the wider teaching team, you will deliver structured, engaging and targeted interventions to help children make measurable progress.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting children with phoneme recognition, blending, segmenting, decoding and early reading fluency.
- Using Read Write Inc. (RWI) strategies and resources, where appropriate, to deliver structured and consistent phonics sessions.
- Supporting pupils who may have gaps in their phonics knowledge or require additional intervention to keep pace with their peers.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys working with smaller groups, can bring energy and enthusiasm to their teaching and takes genuine pride in seeing children make progress.
About the School
This is a large, established primary school in Brent, offering a busy, rewarding and supportive environment for Teaching Assistants looking to develop their skills.
The school is committed to ensuring that every child has access to high-quality teaching and the additional support they need to succeed, regardless of their starting point.
With a strong focus on early literacy, inclusion and pupil progress, the school recognises the importance of effective phonics teaching in helping children become confident and enthusiastic readers.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a school community where your contribution can make a genuine difference to children's learning and confidence.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a positive, proactive and engaging individual who can deliver phonics interventions confidently while building strong relationships with pupils.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Intervention Teaching Assistant or in a similar primary school role.
