Are You Confident, Enthusiastic and Looking for a Rewarding Role in Secondary Education?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work within secondary schools across Kettering and the surrounding areas.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates considering a career in teaching or individuals who have experience working with young people and would love to develop their career within education.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in supporting students' learning when their regular teacher is absent. You will supervise classes, deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure students remain engaged, focused and on task throughout the school day.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher to become a Cover Supervisor!

We are looking for confident, adaptable and enthusiastic individuals who can build positive relationships with students, maintain classroom expectations and create a supportive learning environment.

Whether you're looking for flexible work around other commitments or a long-term opportunity within a secondary school, we would love to hear from you!

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans and ensuring students understand the tasks they have been set.

  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.

  • Encouraging students to remain focused, engaged and motivated throughout lessons.

  • Supporting students with their learning and answering general questions about assigned activities.

  • Following school behaviour policies and maintaining consistent classroom expectations.

  • Managing classes across a range of secondary school subjects.

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour and completed work.

  • Supporting students with additional learning needs where appropriate.

  • Building positive professional relationships with students and school staff.

  • Adapting confidently to different classroom environments and school routines.

  • Following safeguarding policies and promoting the welfare of all students.

What Are We Looking For?

We would love to hear from candidates who:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.

  • Are confident supervising groups of secondary school students.

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Can maintain positive behaviour and manage classroom expectations.

  • Are enthusiastic, approachable and professional.

  • Can follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.

  • Are organised, reliable and adaptable.

  • Have a genuine interest in supporting young people's education and development.

  • Can work independently and use their initiative when required.

  • Are passionate about making a positive difference within a school environment.

Previous Cover Supervisor experience is beneficial but not essential.

We also welcome applications from individuals with backgrounds in:

  • Teaching Assistance or Learning Support.

  • Sports Coaching or PE.

  • Youth Work and Mentoring.

  • SEN or SEMH Support.

  • Childcare or Residential Care.

  • Tutoring or Educational Support.

  • Graduate roles, particularly those considering teacher training.

  • Other positions involving the supervision, mentoring or development of young people.

  • Individuals looking to gain experience before applying for teacher training.

  • Experienced education professionals seeking flexible working opportunities.
