Mental Health Practitioner

Location: Northampton
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Long-Term Roles

Are you a qualified mental health professional looking to make a difference in young people's lives? Do you want to work in a school environment where emotional wellbeing is a top priority?

We are working with multiple schools across Northampton that are seeking School-Based Mental Health Practitioners to join their teams from September 2025. These are full-time, long-term roles supporting students' mental health and emotional development within inclusive, nurturing school settings.

About the Roles:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions for students experiencing emotional or mental health challenges such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, or self-esteem issues

  • Carry out assessments and develop tailored support plans in collaboration with school SENCOs, pastoral leads, and parents

  • Support a whole-school approach to mental health through awareness campaigns, staff workshops, and drop-in sessions

  • Work closely with internal staff and external agencies to ensure joined-up, child-centred care

  • Promote resilience, wellbeing, and positive coping strategies through structured therapeutic sessions

  • Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and confidentiality procedures

We're Looking For:

  • A qualified mental health professional - such as a counsellor, mental health nurse, youth worker, or social worker

  • Experience supporting children or adolescents in education, healthcare, or youth services

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds

  • A calm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach

  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant mental health legislation

  • (Desirable) Additional training in areas such as CBT, emotional regulation, or trauma-informed practice
