SEN Teaching Assistant - Northampton
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Long-Term or Permanent Role

We are currently working with a number of mainstream and specialist schools in Northampton who are seeking compassionate, resilient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams from September 2025. This is a full-time position, ideal for candidates with experience supporting students with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group TA support for students with additional needs, both inside and outside the classroom

  • Assisting the class teacher with differentiation, behaviour management, and inclusive learning strategies

  • Helping students access the curriculum and build independence, communication, and confidence

  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Contributing to individual education plans (IEPs), reviews, and progress tracking in collaboration with SENCOs and other professionals

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school, nursery, or care setting

  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to support diverse needs and behaviours

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with students who may find learning challenging

  • Teamwork and a positive, proactive mindset

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are beneficial but not essential

  • A willingness to learn and undertake additional training (e.g. Team Teach, PECS, Makaton)
