Teaching Assistant - Northampton

Location: Northampton

Salary: Competitive hourly/daily rates (depending on experience)

We are currently recruiting full-time Teaching Assistants to work across a number of secondary schools in Northampton starting from September 2025. These rewarding roles are ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about education, enjoy working with young people, and want to support both academic and personal progress.

Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support students both in and out of the classroom. You'll provide targeted help to individuals or small groups, particularly those with additional learning needs, and play a vital role in ensuring that every student feels confident and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students across KS3 and KS4, including those with SEN, EAL, or additional needs

  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to reinforce learning and offer tailored academic support

  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery

  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm, inclusive classroom environment

  • Provide emotional and social support to students where needed

  • Communicate effectively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and wider support teams

  • Support with general school duties such as breaktime supervision or classroom transitions

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or childcare setting

  • Understanding of the needs of students with SEN, SEMH, or learning barriers

  • Friendly, patient, and encouraging nature

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently when needed

  • Reliable, adaptable, and proactive

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) is beneficial but not essential
