Job Title: Communications Support Worker (BSL)

Do you have a passion for supporting deaf children and young people? We are looking for a dedicated Communications Support Worker with strong British Sign Language (BSL) skills to join a welcoming and inclusive Special School in Haringey. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your signing skills to help pupils across both primary and secondary access learning and thrive in school life.
Key Responsibilities:
Use British Sign Language (BSL) to provide high-quality signing and communication support during lessons and activities.
Deliver 1:1 and small group support, focusing on academic progress as well as social and emotional development.
Collaborate with teachers and multi-agency professionals to adapt resources and strategies for deaf students.
Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in pupils who are deaf or have hearing impairments.
Promote full inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.
Contribute to a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements:
BSL qualification (minimum Level 1, ideally Level 2 or above).
Previous experience supporting deaf pupils or young people with hearing impairments.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.
