Tradewind Recruitment are looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support schools across Northampton that cater for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a full-time, permanent position for someone who is passionate about supporting young people who may find mainstream education challenging. You will play an important role in helping students develop emotional regulation, improve social skills, and re-engage positively with learning.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide 1:1 and small-group support. You'll help students to build trust, develop resilience, and celebrate success in a nurturing and structured environment. The role will also involve promoting positive behaviour strategies and supporting the creation of engaging, differentiated learning activities that meet individual needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional needs

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
