Head of Geography - Secondary School (Kettering Area)

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent or Long-term
Start Date: January 2026 (or sooner if available)

Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be working with a thriving secondary school in the Kettering area, who are seeking a passionate and dynamic Head of Geography to lead their successful Geography department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Geography Teacher ready to take the next step into leadership, or for an existing Head of Department looking for a fresh challenge in a supportive and ambitious school environment.


About the Role:

As Head of Geography, you will:

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a team of dedicated Geography teachers.

  • Oversee the planning and delivery of an engaging and challenging Geography curriculum at Key Stages 3-5.

  • Promote a love of learning and encourage students to explore the world around them.

  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment across the department.

  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and play an active role within the wider leadership team.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Geography or a related subject.

  • Have proven experience teaching Geography across Key Stages 3-5.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Have a track record of raising achievement and fostering a positive learning environment.

  • Hold (or be willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS check.
