Mechanics Teacher - Specialist SEMH School (Full-Time, Long-Term)
 Location: Corby Area
 Start Date: ASAP or January 2026
 Contract: Long-term, with potential for permanent placement
Are you a passionate and skilled Mechanics Teacher who wants to use your practical expertise to inspire and support young people with additional needs?
 Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a specialist SEMH school in the Corby area seeking an enthusiastic teacher to lead engaging mechanics and vocational learning sessions for secondary-aged students.
About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to teach mechanics within a small, supportive, and well-resourced specialist setting. You'll plan and deliver practical lessons that develop students' mechanical understanding, technical ability, and confidence - helping them prepare for further education, training, or employment.
Working with students who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, you'll use a nurturing, trauma-informed approach to encourage positive engagement, build trust, and promote hands-on learning in a calm and structured environment.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, practical mechanics lessons suitable for a range of abilities.
Support students in developing mechanical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Create a safe, inclusive workshop environment that promotes respect and responsibility.
Build positive relationships to encourage participation and personal growth.
Work collaboratively with support staff, mentors, and senior leaders to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS).
Background or strong knowledge in mechanics, motor vehicle studies, or a related vocational subject.
Experience working with students with SEMH needs or additional barriers to learning (desirable but not essential).
A patient, resilient, and adaptable teaching style.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Tradewind.
