Job Title: SEMH Maths Teacher
Location: Northampton
Contract: Long-term, full-time (with permanent potential)
Start Date: ASAP
Agency: Tradewind Recruitment

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and compassionate SEMH Maths Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Northampton supporting secondary-aged learners with social, emotional, and mental health needs. If you're motivated by seeing students grow in confidence - not just academically, but personally - this role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference every single day.

The school provides an exceptionally supportive environment where staff work closely with therapists, behaviour specialists, and pastoral teams to create personalised learning pathways. As the SEMH Maths Teacher, you will deliver creative and accessible maths lessons that help students build essential numeracy skills while developing perseverance, independence, and a positive mindset toward learning. Lessons may range from Entry Level to GCSE, depending on individual needs.

You will play a crucial role in helping students regulate their emotions so they can engage successfully with the curriculum. The ability to use restorative approaches, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed practice is highly valued. Experience in an SEN, PRU, or alternative provision setting is beneficial, but highly motivated mainstream teachers with strong behaviour management and a passion for inclusive education are encouraged to apply.

The school offers:

  • Small groups and excellent teaching assistant support

  • A tailored curriculum focusing on academic, emotional, and social development

  • Continuous CPD and mentoring

  • A warm, collaborative staff culture

Requirements:

  • QTS / QTLS or relevant teaching qualification

  • Strong behaviour management and a flexible, nurturing approach

  • Commitment to helping students achieve their full potential

  • Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
