Tradewind Recruitment is seeking confident, reliable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in the Northamptonshire area. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain hands-on classroom experience.

Role Overview

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring students remain on task with the work set. You will support learning, manage behaviour effectively, and help maintain a positive, productive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-prepared work to classes in a range of subjects

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Provide guidance and support to students throughout lessons

  • Ensure a safe, focused, and respectful learning atmosphere

  • Assist with basic administrative tasks related to cover work

  • Build positive relationships with staff and students

Ideal Candidate

  • Confident and adaptable, with strong communication skills

  • Experience working with young people (e.g., youth work, sports coaching, tutoring)

  • Ability to manage behaviour calmly and effectively

  • Reliable, proactive, and comfortable stepping into different subjects

  • A desire to support student learning and gain school-based experience

  • Degree-level education is advantageous but not essential
