Job Description

1:1 SEN Tutors Needed - Local Authority & School Referrals
Locations: Across Northamptonshire & Surrounding Areas
Start Date: Ongoing
Flexible Hours - Competitive Rates - Via Tradewind Recruitment

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Tutors to support children and young people who are currently out of school, awaiting specialist provision, or requiring bespoke learning packages due to their needs.

These pupils are referred to us by local authorities and schools and typically present with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language difficulties, learning delays, and physical or medical needs. Many students work below age-related expectations, so lessons must be highly tailored, engaging and delivered at an appropriate pace.

You will provide tuition on a 1:1 basis, usually in the home, a library, a community setting or occasionally in school. Subjects commonly requested include English, Maths and Science, although a strong ability to deliver cross-curricular, functional-skills-based learning is equally valued.

The role involves:

  • Planning and delivering personalised sessions to meet each learner's abilities and EHCP targets

  • Building a positive, trusting relationship to re-engage students who may have been out of education for some time

  • Adapting teaching approaches for lower-level learners or those with complex barriers to learning

  • Working collaboratively with schools, SEN teams, parents/carers and other professionals

  • Providing regular feedback and progress updates

We are looking for tutors who:

  • Have experience with SEN learners, especially Autism, SEMH or moderate learning needs

  • Can confidently teach functional/entry-level English and Maths (Science desirable)

  • Are patient, reliable, resilient, and able to work independently

  • Can create a calm, structured learning environment tailored to individual needs

  • Have QTS, unqualified teaching experience, HLTA background, or strong tutoring experience

This role is perfect for teachers, learning mentors, specialist TAs, or experienced tutors who want to make a real difference to young people who need tailored, meaningful support.

If you are passionate about helping vulnerable learners re-engage with education and reach their potential, apply today through Tradewind Recruitment.
