SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary School in Islington

🗓 Start Date: January 2026
🕒 Hours: Full-time, 8:30am - 4:00pm (Term time only)
💷 Pay: £95-£100 per day (PAYE)

SANZA Teaching Agency is excited to be working with a lovely one-form entry primary school in Islington, who are seeking a dedicated and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support children who need additional help to succeed, while working in a caring, inclusive school community. You will be providing 1:1 support to pupils in both KS1 and KS2, helping them engage, progress, and feel confident within the classroom environment.

The school is known for its nurturing ethos, enthusiastic staff team, and strong commitment to supporting the whole child. They are now looking for someone who is compassionate, proactive, and deeply passionate about SEND education.


Key Responsibilities

As the school's SEND Teaching Assistant, your role will include:

  • Offering 1:1 SEND support to pupils across KS1 and KS2

  • Delivering targeted intervention sessions tailored to individual learning needs

  • Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SLCN, learning delays and SEMH needs

  • Helping pupils access the curriculum using creative, structured and personalised approaches

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow personalised plans and strategies

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development

  • Creating and adapting resources to support children's learning

  • Contributing to progress reviews and maintaining accurate records

  • Building trusted, positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

  • Promoting independence, resilience and confidence in every child you support


The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience working with SEND pupils (primary, secondary or SEN school experience accepted)

  • A patient, calm and supportive approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

  • Confidence delivering interventions and personalised support

  • A genuine passion for inclusion, child development and making learning accessible for all

  • Flexibility, resilience and a positive attitude
