Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and patient Teacher of Mechanics to join a specialist SEN provision in the Corby area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for practical, hands-on learning who can inspire and support young people with additional needs.

About the Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging mechanics-based lessons to students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including SEMH, behavioural challenges, and moderate learning difficulties. Lessons focus on practical skills, vocational learning, and building confidence, with excellent support from a dedicated SEN team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver mechanics lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

  • Create a safe and structured workshop environment for practical work.

  • Adapt teaching styles to support students with varying levels of ability and emotional needs.

  • Build strong, positive relationships to encourage participation and progress.

  • Collaborate with SEN specialists, teaching assistants, and pastoral staff.

  • Maintain high standards of safety, safeguarding, and behaviour management.

About You

  • Experience teaching Mechanics, Motor Vehicle Studies, Engineering, or a similar vocational subject.

  • Strong understanding of practical workshop safety.

  • Previous experience with SEN or SEMH students is advantageous but not essential.

  • Patient, resilient, and able to build trust with learners who may have faced barriers to education.

  • Able to adapt your approach to meet individual needs.

  • Relevant teaching qualification is preferred, but experienced instructors and unqualified teachers with strong subject knowledge will also be considered.
