Job Description
Special Needs Tutor - Flexible, Community-Based Support
Part-Time / Casual - Local Home Visits
Are you passionate about helping children thrive? We're looking for kind, patient and reliable Special Needs Tutors to support children in their own homes with a range of learning needs. This is a flexible, community-based role perfect for someone who loves one-to-one support and wants to make a real difference.
About the Role
You'll be providing personalised tutoring and learning support to children with additional needs, including SEND and SEMH. Each child's needs are different, so your sessions might include help with schoolwork, building confidence, supporting communication skills, or reinforcing key learning routines.
Support is delivered in the child's home, so you must be comfortable travelling locally between households.
What You'll Do:
Deliver 1:1 support tailored to each child's learning style and ability
Help children with core subjects, homework, engagement and confidence
Follow any support plans or strategies provided by families or schools
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and their families
Encourage independence, resilience and a love of learning
Keep brief notes on progress where needed
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEND/SEMH
A calm, friendly and patient approach
Clear communication and good relationship-building skills
Reliability and professionalism when visiting family homes
Ability to adapt sessions to meet individual needs
A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Access to local transport (public or personal)
What We Offer:
Flexible hours to suit your schedule
Regular local placements
Competitive hourly rates
Support from our experienced team
Meaningful, rewarding work supporting children who benefit most from 1:1 help
If you're someone who genuinely cares about supporting young people and wants a flexible role that changes lives, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now and start making a difference in your community.
