Teacher of Design & Technology

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Contract: Full-time / Part-time considered

The Role

We are seeking a creative and motivated Teacher of Design & Technology to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in the Wellingborough area. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is passionate about practical learning, creativity, and developing students' problem-solving and technical skills.

You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for a suitably experienced candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical DT lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach across DT specialisms such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, or Food Technology (depending on expertise)

  • Ensure a safe, well-organised workshop and classroom environment, following health and safety guidance

  • Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress to inform teaching and intervention

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and student engagement

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the DT department

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is working towards it

  • Has strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology

  • Is passionate about practical, hands-on learning

  • Demonstrates effective classroom and behaviour management

  • Works collaboratively as part of a team

  • ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply
