Job Description

I am currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Enfield that is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their Resource Provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs within a well-structured and supportive environment.

About the School
The school has a well-established Resource Provision that supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties. The provision offers a nurturing setting with smaller group sizes, structured routines and targeted interventions, while also promoting inclusion within the mainstream classroom where appropriate.

The leadership team is experienced, supportive and committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential both academically and socially.

The Role
As a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to provide tailored support to pupils within the Resource Provision and, at times, in mainstream classes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes

  • Supporting speech, language and communication development

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and social interaction

  • Implementing EHCP targets and structured interventions

  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience supporting children with SEND, particularly within a primary setting

  • Has a strong understanding of autism and communication needs

  • Is patient, proactive and nurturing in their approach

  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Is confident supporting phonics, early literacy and numeracy

  • Holds a relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)

What's on Offer

  • Competitive daily pay rates

  • A supportive and experienced SEN team

  • Ongoing training and professional development

  • Opportunity for a long-term or permanent position

This position would suit an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, a mainstream TA looking to specialise in SEND, or a graduate considering a future career in education or educational psychology.
