Full-Time SEN Learning Support Assistant - Secondary Schools - Lambeth

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant to join welcoming and supportive secondary schools across Lambeth on a full-time (5 days per week) basis.

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide targeted support to students with a range of additional learning needs. You will play a key role in helping students engage with the curriculum, build confidence, and make meaningful academic and personal progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs

  • Assist students in accessing the secondary school curriculum across various subjects

  • Support the development of students' academic, social, and emotional skills

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff

  • Implement learning strategies and behaviour support plans where required

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational support role

  • Strong subject knowledge and confidence supporting secondary-level learning

  • A degree is preferred, though not essential for candidates with strong relevant experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs

  • Ability to work proactively and adapt to different classroom environments
