Full-Time SEN Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School (Lewisham)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Lewisham on a full-time, 5-day per week basis.

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs. Your role will involve both one-to-one and small group support, helping students engage with the curriculum and develop confidence in their abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs in the classroom

  • Assist with adapting learning materials to suit individual needs

  • Support students with academic work across different subjects

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to implement support strategies

  • Encourage student independence, engagement, and positive behaviour

  • Monitor progress and contribute to student development plans

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or supporting students with additional needs

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to support learning across the curriculum

  • A degree is preferred, particularly in a related field

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students

  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
