Teaching Assistant - PMLD Specialist Schools (Northamptonshire)
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs? We are currently recruiting dedicated, resilient, and hands-on Teaching Assistants to work in PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) specialist schools across Northamptonshire.
This role involves supporting students with a combination of learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and, in some cases, complex medical needs. Pupils in these settings require highly personalised care and support, with a strong focus on sensory learning, communication, and physical development. Every day is different, and your role will be key in helping students access education in a meaningful and engaging way.
You will work closely with students on both a 1:1 basis and within small groups, supporting with personal care, mobility, and learning activities tailored to individual needs. This may include assisting with feeding, using specialist equipment, and supporting sensory-based learning such as tactile, visual, and auditory activities.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a hands-on role and have a calm, resilient approach. Candidates with backgrounds in care, support work, residential services, or healthcare settings often thrive in this environment due to their experience with personal care and complex needs. A positive attitude, patience, and a willingness to learn are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting students with PMLD, including physical and medical needs
