We're working with a secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an Art & Design Instructor from June or September 2026. The school is ideally seeking a permanent appointment but can offer flexibility for fixed-term or long-term supply depending on your availability.

This is a great opportunity to join a supportive department where creativity is encouraged and students are given the space to experiment with different techniques and develop their individual artistic voice.

The Role:

  • Delivering Art & Design lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 may be available depending on experience)
  • Planning engaging, practical lessons using a variety of materials and techniques
  • Supporting students in developing both technical skills and creative thinking
  • Encouraging experimentation, independence, and confidence
  • Monitoring progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Maintaining a safe, organised, and well-equipped classroom or studio environment
  • Contributing to displays, coursework moderation, and department planning

What We're Looking For:

  • A relevant qualification in Art & Design (teaching qualification beneficial but not essential)
  • Experience working in a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach
  • Ability to engage students across different ability levels
  • Good classroom management and organisation
  • A genuine passion for creativity and student development
  • Willingness to contribute to wider school life
