Design Technology Instructor Needed | Northampton Secondary School

Are you a hands-on and practical individual with a passion for Design Technology? Do you enjoy supporting young people in developing their skills and confidence in a workshop or classroom setting?

A secondary school in Northampton is looking for a Full-Time Design Technology Instructor to join their team from June 2026 or September 2026. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge who enjoys working in a practical environment and supporting students with their learning.

The school would ideally like to appoint on a permanent basis, but fixed-term and long-term supply options will also be considered.

Your Role

  • Plan and deliver Design Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons
  • Assist students during hands-on activities and projects
  • Help maintain a safe, organised, and well-equipped workshop environment
  • Provide guidance to students on the safe use of tools and machinery
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support lesson delivery and student progress
  • Assist with stock control, ordering materials, and maintaining equipment

We're Looking For

  • Experience working in a Design Technology, workshop, or practical environment
  • Knowledge of DT areas such as Product Design, Engineering, or Resistant Materials
  • A strong awareness of health and safety procedures
  • Good organisational and practical skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • A proactive and reliable approach
  • Experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential
