A welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Northampton is seeking a committed Full-Time DT Teacher to join their team from June 2026 or September 2026. The school is ideally looking for a permanent appointment, although fixed-term contracts and long-term supply roles will be considered depending on experience and availability.
Applicants from all DT specialisms are encouraged, including Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, Textiles, and Resistant Materials.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engaging and practical DT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 opportunities depending on experience)
- Inspire students through hands-on projects that develop creativity and technical understanding
- Support learners in building problem-solving skills and confidence in design-based tasks
- Ensure a safe, structured, and well-managed workshop or classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues within a forward-thinking and supportive DT team
- Contribute to planning, assessment, and ongoing curriculum development
- Encourage students to explore how design and technology apply to everyday life and industry
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Design Technology within UK secondary education
- Confidence in delivering at least one DT discipline
- Strong classroom management and organisational abilities
- A creative, enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning
- A genuine interest in inspiring young people through practical education
