A well-regarded secondary school in Northampton is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Teacher of Design Technology to join their team from June 2026 or September 2026. The role is permanent preferred, although fixed-term and long-term supply options will be considered for the right candidate.
Applications are welcomed from teachers with specialisms in Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, Textiles, or Resistant Materials, as well as those with a broad Design Technology background who are passionate about inspiring creativity and practical skill development.
Your Role
- Deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 depending on experience)
- Support students in developing creativity, design thinking, and practical making skills
- Encourage innovation, independence, and resilience through project-based learning
- Maintain a safe, well-equipped, and inspiring workshop/classroom environment
- Work collaboratively within a supportive and experienced DT department
- Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, and departmental development
- Help students connect design and technology to real-world applications
We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Design Technology in UK secondary schools
- Ability to confidently teach at least one DT specialism
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills
- A creative, enthusiastic, and student-focused approach
- Passion for inspiring the next generation of designers, engineers, and innovators
