Teacher of Mandarin - Secondary School - Wigan - Part-Time (0.14 FTE) - Long-Term Supply

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Wigan to recruit a committed Teacher of Mandarin for a long-term supply position starting in September and running through to May 2027. This is a part-time Mandarin teaching job totalling 5 hours across 2 weeks (days and teaching hours are flexible). Pay is negotiable depending on experience.

About the role (Teacher of Mandarin - Wigan)

  • Deliver high-quality Mandarin lessons in a secondary setting, building pupils' confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
  • Teach small groups/classes across KS3 and KS4 (exact timetable confirmed with the school).
  • Plan engaging, structured lessons that develop vocabulary, grammar and cultural understanding.
  • Assess learning and provide clear feedback to support progress over the course of this long-term placement.
  • Work flexibly around a 5-hours-per-fortnight timetable, with days/hours agreed to suit you and the school.
  • Start date: September | Duration: until May 2027.

What we're looking for

  • A confident, knowledgeable Teacher of Mandarin with the ability to deliver engaging lessons in a UK secondary context.
  • QTS is desirable; however, strong secondary teaching experience in Mandarin / Chinese will also be considered.
  • Experience working with KS3 and/or KS4 learners (GCSE Chinese/Mandarin experience is beneficial).
  • Strong classroom practice, clear communication and the ability to motivate pupils of varying abilities.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Tradewind Recruitment).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
